Big Star - #1 Record
1972
A brilliant album, listened to it cause they're a big influence on Teenage Fanclub, and its pretty obvious why. Definitley worth a listen

Indeedy - as great as great can be, this album. And Chilton's a really decent guy too.
Big Thanks.

Just so happens I went out and bought this yesterday! I found out about these guys because Elliott Smit was pretty influenced by them, did an excellent cover of Thirteen too! plus The Replacements made a song about Alex Chilton which further made me intrigued.

Deadly shtuff....

with all the talk about chilton, folks tend to downplay chris bell's amazing contribytion to the big star sound. this is the definetive album and is head and shoulders better than anything else they did

Really good album but their second, 'Radio City', sounds even more like the Fanclub. Or vice-versa.

I agree with MD. You should buy/upload "Let it Be" or "Tim" by The Replacements if you like Chilton. Check out the track Waitress in the Sky to start.

Also, I couldn't see any other way of contacting you, but..

Thanks a lot for keeping this blog up. I found the website when you put the KOL album up and it keeps me coming back. Have you seen Rouse or KOL on their current tour? I'm curious what kind of stuff they're doing- I'm seeing both of them in the next month and am not a huge fan of Rouse's new stuff.

You don't have it up, so I don't know if you knew or not, but you can listen to a lot of stuff on Ryan Adams' new album...

It's got a folksy feel, like Cold Roses, but not as jammy. Which personally means it's better than 29 or NCL.

You can shoot me a line at BradAAllen@gmail.com, but if you choose not to- thanks for keeping up the good tunes!
