Both Beck posts for Sarah Whiskers
Beck - Mutations
1998
Sort of in between Sea Change and his Odelay type stuff. Cold Brains is a great opener.
Well worth a listen.
" On his 1996 breakthrough album Odelay, Beck Hansen surprised a sleepy music community by blending funk, rock, rap, alternative, and electronica in ways that were both startlingly innovative and irresistibly catchy. Mutations is equally attention-grabbing but not in the gangbusters-pimp-rock-meets-indie-geek style you might expect. Reflective and plaintive, the album reveals Beck's more sentimental side with an eclectic collection of acoustic-based songs that will sound familiar to anyone who cherishes his indie-rock effort One Foot in the Grave. And don't think just because Beck's gone soft, he's gotten boring. From one song to the next, the chameleonic guru strums pensively, shimmies to a bossa nova rhythm, swirls on a psychedelic cloud, plucks Baroque strains from a harpsichord, and weeps countrified tears into a rusty tin bucket. On Mutations, Beck proves that an undistorted guitar and a bit of creativity can easily sound as exciting as two turntables and a microphone."

The Black Keys
- Magic Potion, Rubber Factory, Thickfreakness
So somebody asked about The Black Keys and if I could post some of their stuff again, here ya go.
Def one of the best bands around today, I seen them in Temple Bar Music Centre last yr which is where all these pics are from(i took the colour ones, dunno who took the blk n white) and was one of my gigs of the year, hopefully they'l put in a festival appearance or something this yr.
The fact that 1 guitar player and a drummer can sound better than most bands with 5 or 6 people is crazy.
I think Rubber Factory is the best album, closely followed by Magic Potion and then Thickfreakness.
I also have a bootleg from Sydney in 05 which i'l put up in a day or so.

Belle and Sebastian - Push Barman to Open Old Wounds
2005
A great album. Highly recommended.
"At long last, all seven of Belle And Sebastian's "Jeepster" EPs have been collected into a convenient 2-CD set. Often considered their best work, and previously only available as hard-to-find imports or in a box set, the EPs, consisting of 25 songs recorded from 1996-2001, are now available for the price of a single frontline CD. The four tracks from the EP "This Is Just A Modern Rock Song" have never been released in the US before."
