Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
2002
For my 100th post, my favourite album.
If you havent heard it, get it now!
"Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was commercially released by Nonesuch Records on April 23, 2002. The album sold 55,573 copies during its first week of release, peaking on the Billboard 200 album chart at number thirteen.[16][17] The album was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and has sold over 517,000 units.[18][19] The album received positive reviews from media outlets such as Rolling Stone and BBC.[20][21] Yankee Hotel Foxtrot was voted as the best album of the year in The Village Voice Pazz & Jop critics poll.[22] The album was ranked 493rd on The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time by Rolling Stone and was voted as the 100th "Greatest Album Ever" in a 2006 Q Magazine poll."
Also one of 2 albums to ever get a 10 out of 10 from Pitchfork

Oakley Hall - Gypsum Strings
2006
Thanks to Kuro for the recommendation.
"Long regarded as one of the best live acts in NY, Oakley Hall delivers this masterpiece, recorded over several sessions at the Sunset Grill in Brooklyn in late 2005. It's their second full-length of 2006 and first on Brah Records. Springing from 60's west coast legends like The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Bros., The Charlatans, and Moby Grape, adding elements of X, Neu, The Feelies, Mercury Rev, and Fairport Convention, this record finds the group refusing the dictates of stale No-Depression era norms. The sextet's trademark killer songwriting chops boast some beautiful ballads that temper the heavier tunes. All told, "Gypsum Strings" cements Oakley Hall's rep as luminaries of the new psych-roots movement."

Wilco - Summerteeth
1999
If you want to get into Wilco, this is prob the best album to start with.
Shot in the Arm, Via Chicago, Pieholden Suite, I'm Always in Love etc
"Wilco's Summer Teeth spreads its digits far into guitar-heavy Britpop, with full-group backing vocals carrying bouncy choruses and synths whistling over the melodies. "We're Just Friends" and "Via Chicago" stand as harmonized twists on ballad formulas, the latter recalling Mermaid Avenue's "California Stars" with the opening line, "I dreamed about killing you again last night / And it felt all right to me." So it's not always uplifting or cheery, but it's got dozens of surprises in a mere 15 songs."

Suburban Kids With Biblical Names - #3
2006
Playing Whelans in Dublin this May !!!!!
"Originally released in 2005 and reissued in '06 on the Minty Fresh label, #3 is actually the first full-length album by the Swedish indie-pop duo Suburban Kids with Biblical Names. (#1 and #2 are EPs.) While the acoustic-guitar-toting Scandinavian pair invites comparisons to Norway's Kings of Convenience, Peter Gunnarson and Johan Hedberg actually hew closer to the eclectic and eccentric sound of fellow Swede Jens Lekman, as revealed on the light, lilting "Funeral Face" and the ridiculously catchy, lo-fi "Rent a Wreck," which features an infectious "ba-ba-ba" chorus. Irrepressibly witty, fun, and happy rock 'n' roll from a duo who sound like children who've played together forever. Exuberant, joyful; it even puts a bounce in yer booty."

The Reindeer Section - Son of Evil Reindeer
2002
For their follow-up to their 2001 debut, Y'All Get Scared Now, the members of Astrid, Belle and Sebastian, Mogwai, Mull Historical Society--have been joined by a deluge of new recruits headed by Idlewild's Roddy Woomble and Teenage Fanclub's Norman Blake, swelling their number to a staggering 27. It seems every Glaswegian with a guitar has signed up to join honorary Scot and Snow Patrol singer Gary Lightbody's lo-fi folk answer to the Traveling Wilburys. The fact that Son of Evil Reindeer is infinitely more coherent and intimate than its predecessor is astounding, and Lightbody himself deserves most of the credit. Aside from Moffat's brilliantly woozy "Whodunit?" the tender words and music are all Lightbody's, and it's the Snow Patrol singer's quietly aching voice that adds melancholy to acoustic ambles "Budapest" and "Your Sweet Voice," and feeling to the country-rock grind of "You Are My Joy." With the co-op's more avant-garde noise factors reined in, the other 26 contributors are seemingly confined to minor cameos, but when the results are as touching as this, it hardly seems to matter.

Josh Rouse - Nashville
2005
Really good album, seen him live a few times.
"Don't be fooled by the title of Josh Rouse's fifth solo album. Yes, the singer-songwriter lived in the commercial country music capital for nearly a decade. Yes, he has been known to use the occasional pedal steel guitar. And okay, there is a soft southern lilt to his voice. But there are no rhinestone-studded cowboy hats or tattered American flags to be found in this "Nashville," an album of gentle AM radio nostalgia and understated folk-rock beauty. Influenced in equal parts by Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, and the Smiths, Rouse moves gracefully between intimate acoustic ballads ("Saturday") and handclap-drenched pop songs ("Winter In The Hamptons"), all the while delivering more personality and deft songwriting than his platinum-certified neighbors could ever conceive."

Wilco - Being There
1996
"Wilco gave alt country a golden crown and scepter in the form of this sophomore double album. The band's chemistry was at such a peak on these sessions that no alt country rockers since have come close to touching the album's perfection—not even Ryan Adams."
I didn't make up the Ryan Adams bit Niamh! Its a quote! HA!

Covers
So, i decided to upload some cool covers I have. I sifted through the shit and have only put up the best.
Wilco - Thirteen (Big Star)
Just a really nice song covered very well.
Kings of Convenience - Free Falling (Tom Petty)
So cool.
Ben Folds - In Between Days (The Cure)
Ben Folds Bitches Ain't Shit(Dr Dre)
i know everybody probably has this but couldn't do an Eastenders and "leave it out"(will anybody get that joke?)
Eels - Feeling Good (Nina Simone)
Jeff Tweedy - California Stars (a sort of a cover, Wilco and Billy Bragg did an album where they put music to Woody Gutherie lyrics, full band version is cool, this is acoustic)
Eels feat Afro Man - Because I Got High (Afro Man)
Basically Eels played a gig in Munich and a guy kept calling for Novocaine for the Soul, this guy was so pissed off it wasnt played he confronted E after the show who told him to fuck off and find something better to worry about.
The next day in Vienna Afro Man was staying in the same hotel as E, still not in the mood to play Novocaine, E asked him to come down to their gig and play his hit, Because I Got High, Afro Man agreed. The few seconds silence from the crowd when E introduces Afro Man is hilarious.
I wanna also add that Eels name all their tours, for instance "Eels with Strings" was semi acoustic, rock tour was last year "No Strings Attached" etc, this mp3 is taken from the tour in 2003 with the best tour name ever "Bus Driving, Band Rocking"
Video below but I prefer the mp3 myself:
